BACP Accredited Therapist in Forest Row

About Me

I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. Feeling comfortable enough to talk openly, without feeling judged, can make a real difference. My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I won't tell you how you should live your life or what decisions you should make. Instead, we'll work together to understand what's happening for you and what might help things begin to change

My background

Before becoming a therapist I worked as a head chef, interacting with the general public and managing staff. Working environments tend to generate a lot of 'people problems' with customers and staff, so I became quite experienced at resolving conflicts and problems amongst my staff.

I have also spent many years as an improvisational musician, which allowed me to hone my listening skills and enhance my ability to interact harmoniously with others.

After settling down and becoming a husband and stepfather, I signed up to do a course in psychotherapy.

My training and experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and am a BACP accredited therapist (MBACP Accred).

I am also trained in EMDR and solution-focused therapy.

I have worked with West Kent Mind since 2018, alongside my private practice in Forest Row.

How I see therapy

I don't believe therapy is about someone else having all the answers.

Sometimes having the space to talk and think about what's happening can help you understand yourself differently. You may begin to recognise where certain thoughts, feelings or ways of responding come from and discover that you have more choices than it sometimes feels.

There may also be experiences from the past that still carry a lot of emotion or continue to affect you now. Where appropriate, EMDR can be part of our work to help process those experiences.

Therapy is something we do together, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
